It's baby season again!

Baby birds, baby squirrels, bunnies, and more are out there. There are stages in a wild animal's youth when it is defenseless and should be with mom, and stages when it is normal for it to begin to roam and explore on its own. At the latter stage, you may not see the mother, but she is likely very close. If you find a baby wild animal, keep people and pets away. Usually the mother is nearby, and human or pet presence can keep her away. No one can raise a baby to survive as well as the mother can. If the baby is a featherless bird or a fur-less, eyes-closed mammal, take a picture or video if you can from a distance, and call us at 541-459-4023 right away. Our rehabbers are very experienced in being able to tell if an animal needs to be left where it is or brought in for help. If the baby is clearly injured or ill, is crying or following people, it will need immediate help. If you can keep an eye out at your home for the presence of these little ones you can help keep them safe from cats, dogs, and other dangers. Call us and we can give you tips. Hoping for a safe season for all our wild young!
