Barn Owl with a fractured Corocoid
The Barn Owl that came in is doing very well! Meriann has brought her through the worst of the starvation and she has put on weight. Meriann says: "Here are a couple pictures that I got today. We keep her wing wrapped up and against her body to keep things in a stationary resting position to heal. Every other day now we unwrap her and gently work each joint of the wing to keep things moving so the joints don’t freeze. She has gained 80g in the last week (the first 3 days being liquid and easily digestible food) and still has about that much more to gain to be at a healthy weight for a female in our area. It’s amazing watching how she seems to inflate a bit more each day as she recovers. Her feet were bony sticks with dry skin and now they are starting to look like owl feet again. I love all of the tiny little feathers of her face."
