Baby Season

Baby mammals are already out there this year. Nothing is cuter, but that can be a trap for people, especially soft-hearted folks. Please know if you find a baby mammal that we sometimes are able to reunite them with their parents. Without parents, it’s very hard for these animals to learn survival skills. They have very specialized diets, and without the proper diet their bones and joints may not form correctly. They also can tame very easily as babies, and tameness means almost certain death if they are ever released. So what happens if they don’t get released? Some people think baby wildlife can make good pets; but healthy wild animals are never happy in captivity. They can’t be vaccinated for rabies, or see a vet for anything without a permit, and they will lose their baby-innocence and be capable of biting and injuring people when they mature and the “call of the wild” sets into them. They want to be free, to be wild, and to raise their own young. If you are a kind-hearted person, you will want what’s best for the baby, and that is a wild life; always. If you do find a wild baby, call us at 541-459-4023 and let us help get that animal back to its family, or help it grow up to be whom its meant to be.
